Angel Tree and Toys for Tots There is Christmas help for struggling families residing in Chestnuthill, Eldred, Hamilton, Jackson, Polk and Ross Townships through PVEN via area churches and businesses with the Angel Tree and Toys for Tots programs. Families residing in the above townships with the following annual household income brackets: 2 total household members- up to $25,365 annually; 3 total household members- up to $31,995 annually; 4 total household members- up to $38,625 annually; 5 total household members- up to $45,255 annually; 6 total household members- up to $51,885 annually; 7 total household members- up to $58,515 annually; 8 total household members- up to $65,145 annually; (for larger households, add $6,630 per member to $65,145) can register for Angel Tree and/or Toys for Tots. Angel Tree is a program where parents can make specific gift requests (up to $50 each) per child (through age 17) and can also request clothing (sizes, colors, etc). Angel Tree requests are placed on Christmas Trees throughout the community and generous community “Angels” purchase these items (not electronics or gift cards). Toys For Tots, a U.S. Marine Corps initiative, is a program for children up to age 12, where parents “shop” for age specific gifts that have been donated through the Toys For Tots toy collections. Parents cannot make specific requests in advance, but can shop through a variety of quality donated items. There is a very specific list of needed items that all families must provide at their appointment for either program: Proof of income for 2019 for all residents of the household (pay stubs, unemployment, SSI, disability etc.), a current letter of SNAP benefits being received (if any), a current lease or mortgage statement, birth certificates for all children in the household, custody papers (if this applies). Families receiving items from PVEN Angel Tree and Toys For Tots must sign a statement acknowledging that they may not receive toys from any other organized programs. Children must reside in the household full time in order to participate in this program. Individuals must call PVEN at 570-992-3136 for a registration appointment (or with any questions). Angel Tree registrations will be held October 16, 17, 23, 24 and 26. If a family misses Angel Tree registration, they may register for Toys For Tots only (by appointment) on November 6, 7, 13, 14 and 16. Toy distribution (held at Christ Hamilton Lutheran Church) appointments will be given after all required registration information is received. PVEN is located at 2334 Route 209, Sciota. Monroe County residents residing outside of these six townships may contact the Salvation Army in East Stroudsburg for registration information. The Salvation Army follows the same guidelines and shares a registration list to avoid duplication of services. … See more
