2016 Summer Lunch Program Update

PVE-Thanks-1Thank you to everyone who made the 2016 Summer Lunch for Kids program a success!  The program ran from July 6th to August 19th, and over the course of six and a half weeks we delivered approximately 3300 lunches to hungry girls and boys at local parks and school cafeterias.

Our approach this year was to deliver a fresh meal with a sandwich, cold milk, fruits and veggies for kids to eat on the spot on Mondays and Wednesdays, and hand out a bag lunch with juice, heat-and-eat pasta, a snack, and even a breakfast packet for the days in-between.

Yes, there is such a thing as a free lunch, and we plan to repeat this program again during the summer of 2017!  We will be working with West End schools to coordinate with some of their summer school programs, and will also distribute lunches at a number of local parks with picnic facilities.

Please keep PVEN and this program in your thoughts and visit our web site again in the spring when we hope to have more details about the program and how you can help out.

And of course, don’t forget that you can help PVEN meet people’s needs all year ’round by volunteering and donating to keep our cupboards from going empty!
