Many thanks to all who joined us for an overview of the Monroe County Community Assessment completed by the United Way of Monroe County this past Spring. This overview was followed by the documentary, A Place at the Table. The film shows us how hunger poses serious economic, social and cultural implications for our nation and highlights that making healthy food available and affordable is in the best interest of us all.
The event conculded with a discussion about the film and how participants can unite to form a coalition in our community to tackle the issue of hunger in Monroe County.
About The Film
50 Million Americans—1 in 4 children—don’t know where their next meal is coming from. A Place at the Table tells the powerful stories of three such Americans, who maintain their dignity even as they struggle just to eat. In a riveting journey that will change forever how you think about the hungry, A Place at the Tableshows how the issue could be solved forever, once the American public decides—as they have in the past—that ending hunger is in the best interests of us all.
